Join our Fun Youth Competition between 
Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Gisborne.

Parafed Bay of Plenty, in collaboration with Parafed Waikato and Parafed Gisborne, are excited to bring a Fun Youth Competition to our 2020 Festival. This competition is open to any youth aged 8-21 years with a physical disability. 

 

The 3 regional teams will compete in three sports across the day, 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball, Boccia and Badminton.
Not all youth are required to compete in each sport, this is up to the individual to choose at time of registering.  

This competition is about being active, part of a team and having fun! Bring your family and join the fun!

Below is a draft programme of what to expect.

Timings will depend on team numbers and are subject to change. 

9.00am     Youth Team check in opens

9.30am     Official Festival Opening for all participants and supporters

10.00am    Youth Competition kicks off with 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball hosted by Parafed Gisborne 

11:30am     Lunch Break 

12:00pm    Competition continues with Boccia hosted by Parafed Waikato 

1.30pm      Final round, with Badminton hosted by Parafed Bay of Plenty 

3.00pm      Prize Giving 

6.00pm     Healthvision Festival of Disability Sport, Awards Dinner

Nominations are now open for our Aspiring Youth Award, open to any youth participating in the Festival.

other sports available for youth

Over the weekend there are other sports available for youth to try, such as:

  • Sailing: Bookings essential and would be best to book a session on Sunday.
    Click here for more info.

  • Powerchair Football: Saturday 28th will be a have a go / intro session. Sunday 29th will be a fun competition. 

  • Blind and Low Vision Sports: Intro sessions will be run over the two days.
